DUCHASTEL
Mid-Century Residence – Outremont
Winner – Grands Prix du Design, 17th Edition
Nestled on the slopes of Mount Royal, this exceptional residence embodies the spirit of Mid-Century Modern, where architecture engages in dialogue with nature and materials become the guiding thread of the space.
From the very first meetings with the clients—deeply invested in the project—walnut quickly emerged as an obvious choice. An emblematic wood of the mid-century movement, walnut conveys warmth, authenticity, and refinement. The design features solid walnut fronts sculpted with deep asymmetric grooves, proposed by one of our manufacturing partners. Alternating with smooth surfaces, this textured signature immediately captivated the clients and became the defining element of the kitchen.
The layout unfolded as a natural extension of the home’s architecture, respecting the clean lines and modernist spirit of the property. The kitchen integrates seamlessly into the overall composition of the house, engaging with the volumes and natural light.
Complementing the space is a comprehensive program of architectural storage systems, crafted in noble materials such as leather, lacquer, and walnut. The richness of these materials introduces depth and subtle contrast, while the discreet integration of storage elements helps structure the rooms and contributes to the interior architecture. Every detail was carefully studied to ensure ergonomics, fluid circulation, and visual coherence throughout the project.
PURE Cuisines also supplied the entire plumbing fixture program, selected from the Italian manufacturer CEA Design. Renowned for their technical precision and sculptural minimalism, these fixtures elevate everyday use while reinforcing the material harmony and understated elegance of the overall concept.
